A note from Angus...

Hi [NAME],

It was fantastic to meet so many people from all over the world who came to celebrate Scotland at The Gathering recently. Us home-grown Scots don’t often get the chance to celebrate all things good about Scotland - so I think The Gathering was a really healthy experience for all concerned. Even better ... many of you also laid down some Scottish roots by planting trees with us in Teaghlach Wood! Thanks.

I really hope that you all enjoy this edition of The Branch.

Teaghach Wood is Truly International!

The gatheringThe Gathering 2009

What an event it turned out to be. We have loads of photographs in a special feature on our website - see if you can spot yourself!! Read more...

Good news is wood news!

Especially for this month's lucky winners! Up for grabs last month were a special prize from our Oak Status supporters The Famous Grouse Experience and 100 trees for the winner of our Gathering Prize Draw.

  • July’s prize goes to Markus and Martina Kewiz who have won 2 tickets to The Famous Grouse Experience in Perthshire. Well done guys and thanks for planting trees with us.

  • We also had a special prize of 100 trees to be planted in Teaghlach Wood for anyone entering our prize draw or planting trees with us at The Gathering event itself – all entries were mixed up and the winning entry is Nikki and Cam Sturrock – who I think are from New Zealand!!

Prize winners were drawn by Lewis Ruben who was kindly helping Angus at The Gathering. Could both please get in touch by emailing Angus at gus@trees4scotland.com – and well done!

Our woodland projects...

Teaghlach Wood

The Gathering 2009 event has helped to put Teaghlach Wood on the map! There have been lots of trees planted and we now hope to have tapped into a much wider global network of support.

The honours boards, complete with many names and company names, have now been erected on site at the woodland (Balmuick Farm, Comrie, Perthshire, PH6 2LY) – so please pay us a visit! The oak plaques will be ready next week and will also be going up!

The second stage of the woodland will be fenced off shortly with the trees going in over the winter. The trees we plant are bare rooted so it is best to plant them when they are not in leaf – hence the planting season has a window of late October through to about April.

You can plant trees with us all year round and we will make sure the trees are professionally planted for you.

The Whispering Wood

If you would like your own tree marked by a special engraved plaque then please click the link below. Trees can be planted in memory, in celebration or for any number of personal reasons. We will make sure the moment and message last forever.

More companies get ON BOARD (literally)

Membership of Trees4Scotland continues to grow with more companies seeking a prestigious place on our honours board.

A special welcome on board goes to:

The Caledonian Brewery – producing arguably Scotland finest beer and official beer sponsor of The Gathering! It is fantastic to have another iconic Scottish brand taking its place on our honours board. Deuchers IPA, Caledonian 80 /-... try them!

Allied Vehicles – it is great to have such a dynamic and rapidly growing Scottish company in pride of place with Oak status on our honours board. Allied Vehicles are also working hard to engage the green agenda – more to come on this next month.

BAA: Edinburgh Airport & Glasgow Airport – as part of the funding package for The Tree Amigos, BAA will be planting 50 trees for each school. This means a total of 500 trees – and more if Aberdeen schools also come on board!

Scottish Youth Hostels Association – not only have they planted trees with us but they are also promoting us to all their members. We were delighted to welcome them on site to see the woodland and to get a few photos taken of the certificate presentation – again we were lucky with the weather!
