The first stage when planting large numbers of trees is to get some mounding done. The mounding that you can see in the photographs will help suppress the bracken growth and enable the trees to take a proper hold.
We have put in approximately 4000 mounds in this first stage of our woodland regeneration project. The mounds will shortly be planted with native broadleaves at 1,600 trees per hectare.
